Vaudeville Beginnings

The GEM Theatre initially began over a century ago, housing vaudeville performers from all over the country.

1932

A turn to Cinema

With the advent of motion pictures, The GEM was among the first American theatres to transition to a cinema house.

1965

Return to Roots

As the institution of live theatre became a rarer and rarer commodity, The GEM returned to its origins as a live theatre venue and began its commitment to preserving theatre culture.

A Thriving Institution

Today, The GEM continues upholding its commitment to the arts by presenting original shows written, produced, and performed by local thespians, artists, and musicians.
